Cashmere Clothing: How to store cashmere

Cashmere clothing is a very fragile fabric and must always be stored with extreme care. Without it all sorts of terrible things could happen to your beloved clothings. And you wouldn't want to buy another clothes would you? A cashmere can last your whole life if you care for it properly. That is why cashmeres aren't just normal clothes, they're a lifelong investment.

After Winter, and when things are starting to warm up a bit, you should get ready to store your cashmere until it is needed next time. Before you store it, you should wash it (the guide to washing cashmere is also on this blog). This is to get rid of all the body oils and dead skin cells and hair that are on the cashmere. Moths love cashmere, and think of it as destroyed if you did not wash it before storing it. If the clothing can not be washed, leave in a freezer overnight. Freezing will also increase cashmere's condition. Then mothballs or chemicals that prevent moths from eating your cashmere must be kept with the clothes. Cashmere is, like I said before, is like a Moth's version of a chocolate cake. Delicious, warm and soft. Without a proper precaution, you may risk the possibility of opening up your cashmere later and find out that you could hardly call it clothes.

After you have done the above, you should fold it up neatly and place it in a cotton breathable bag. Never a plastic bag because Cashmere clothings need to be able to breathe.

However, caring is much easier during the winter when you are actively using the cashmere clothing. The only thing to remember is that you should never hang your cashmere up. This is because the clothing can get saggy and disfigured. They must always be folded up and placed in a drawer.

Cashmere is certainly not the most robust fabric in the world. However, with proper precaution and common sense, caring for cashmere clothing is quite truly easy.
